    Had the same poker chip problem on my studio session, there’s another washer on the bottom of the switch which pushes the switch tip up just enough to expose the threads above the chip to grab onto. Makes the tip stick out a little more than normal, but not too much.

    • @terrydionne1541
      @terrydionne1541 20 часов назад +1

      I thought the exact same thing and I don't own one. They did this as the threads would have stuck out too much and it would have looked silly... never would they have gave you a pocker chip if it wouldn't fit... ..

    • @rocktorrocks
      @rocktorrocks 20 часов назад

      Factoring for inflation that $500 is probably about $1250 now. The current normal studios are $1599 now & they have binding on the neck instead of the hardshell case so it’s not that much of a difference all things considered. Though $1300 would be a more equivalent price point today.

My first studio is a beast in weight at 10lbs 4.7 oz. It is the 1983 greenburst featured on a guitar hunting post on this channel. The other is about or close to b just under 9 and a half lbs and is the 2014 Dirty Cherry heritage also featured on another guitar hunting post. I also own an Epiphone 2014 Traditional Pro III in a gold finish and is lightweight comparedto the other two . All three have the stop bar and bridge.

    Man, I can't say I'll ever be a fan of orange Les Pauls. I almost feel 10 years older just by looking at that boomer burst.

    Trogly,
    I tried and played a 1993 Gibson Les Paul Studio and was impressed with its long sustain. However, the Studio has been plagued with problems for decades and should be avoided at all costs. It should be (and is) the ‘poster child’ for the most common electric guitar manufacturing problem throughout the entire effing guitar-building industry: the pickup polepieces do not line up correctly and properly with the strings on both the bridge and neck pickups. I have seen this manufacturing defect on every Studio model. When you bend a string, the sound peters out and dies; not at all what you would expect from a Les Paul since one of the hallmarks (and some may say THE most important) of the Les Paul model design, is its long sustain. The misaligned polepieces defeat this guitar’s design features and ruin the sound. Only Les Paul Standards for me!
    Moreover, if the Dunlop FORMULA NO. 65 contains any lemon oil or any lemon derivatives, then you just ruined your - and your customers’ - fretboards. For fingerboards, I only recommend the MusicNomad F-ONE Oil and Dr Duck’s Ax Wax; none of these contain harmful and undesirable ingredients. For routine daily cleaning and polishing, I recommend the Virtuoso Premium Polish and MusicNomad Guitar Polish - Pro Strength Formula.

    So.....for about $500 more, you can buy a Standard gold top. Hmmm. That's a no brainer.

    Having a plastic stripe between the neck (back) and the fretboard adds nothing for me. Completely pointless upcharge. I don't get why Gibson does it or why people want it. Wood looks better, and is nicer on the hands than the plastic.

    That poker chip makes me think the guitar business has entered "micro-transactions." You pay for everything. It is all included. You can't USE it, though, unless you buy the skirted washer. Like how everything is ON the disc when you buy it but you can't access it unless you pay for it to be unlocked.

      Perhaps they put the wrong washer in the case by accident.
