Had the same poker chip problem on my studio session, there’s another washer on the bottom of the switch which pushes the switch tip up just enough to expose the threads above the chip to grab onto. Makes the tip stick out a little more than normal, but not too much.
I thought the exact same thing and I don't own one. They did this as the threads would have stuck out too much and it would have looked silly... never would they have gave you a pocker chip if it wouldn't fit... ..
Factoring for inflation that $500 is probably about $1250 now. The current normal studios are $1599 now & they have binding on the neck instead of the hardshell case so it’s not that much of a difference all things considered. Though $1300 would be a more equivalent price point today.

That top on that Studio looks great and sounds great. Looks better without the pickguard . But with the pickguard on the poker chip would pop if you could get it installed. Very similar to the LP Tribute w natural binding; which I'd love to see you do a review of some day. This GC Studio has a nicer flame top finish and is visually stunning. Nice review as always.
What happened to the days of a $500 Studio? I have four 90’s Studios and love them all equally. Those are some of the best playing and looking Les Paul’s ever built in my opinion.
I love that finish. I just wish that the Studio didn't have the binding on the neck. Binding on the neck, but not the body looks weird to me. It's like they forgot to do the body binding. I think they should leave off binding the neck. However, I do like the look of the "flux binding" on the body. Thanks for the review.

Gibson seems to have doubled down on the „regular“ Studios - I‘ve also seen new Smokehouse Burst, Washed Cherry Sunburst, Dark Ebony and Dark Olive Drab Studios on a UK Guitar website. The Dark Ebony and Olive ones are interesting since they come with Grovers, unlike the other new Studios. But it‘s getting really hard to track all models.
I was thinking, if you wanna keep your pick guard maybe put a little piece of scotch tape under that felt piece maybe that would stop it from being able to scratch it or scuff it.
